I am very excited to announce that I was recently selected as a finalist for the Photography Prize Space & Place as part of the 2014 Queensland Festival of Photography Festival coming up in April. My first national photography competition as an "official Australian"!
The twenty finalists will exhibit their images at the Spaces & Places opening - March 28th from 5-8pm at the Queensland Centre for Photography.
About the competition: As a part of the Queensland Festival of Photography, the biennial QFP Photography Prize is a celebration of Australian photography. The prize aims to encourage the production of innovative photography, and for Australian artists to share their work both online and within the Queensland Centre for Photography gallery. For QFP5, the Photography Prize theme is space & place. Depictions of the landscape have always existed within photography, due to the long exposures early photographic techniques required. However, with rapidly improving new technology, the possibilities for depicting and imagining the landscape are limitless.
